Florence Wrap-Up
Location: Florence, Italy
We ended up spending a total of 13 nights in Florence. The place we stayed at was a nice one-bedroom apartment on the 3rd (top) floor of a building. If you leaned out of the window you could see into the Giardino Torrigiani, which is a privately owned garden that is 17 acres.
For those of you wondering what a $55/night Airbnb can get you, here are some pictures from our house. Overall, it was a great location and excellent value!
A short walk from our apartment was Piazza Santo Spirito.
There was a painting of the square in our Airbnb kitchen.
If you spend time in Florence, be sure to check out the Mercato Centrale (Central Market). There are countless booths set up selling leather goods. On the ground floor of the building, until about 2 pm, there are stalls with fresh veggies, meat and fish for sale. Upstairs is a huge food court that is open from 8 am to midnight. You can see everyone making the food there. There is a lot of seating and free WiFi.
Here was the delicious pizza that I got in the central market.
On my last full day in Florence I was walking and saw this bike with four dogs in it on the side of the road. The dogs looked so happy.
We enjoyed our time in Florence. It was different from Rome in that it didn’t seem as crowded and touristy, but still brought it’s own unique charm that we very much enjoyed. Stay tuned to figure out where our next stop will be!
