Location: Saint-Priest-en-Jarez, France

After watching stage 13 of the Tour de France in Grenoble, France we drove northwest to the housesit we scheduled near Lyon, France.

Along the way we passed some sunflower fields.

Upon our arrival, the cat, Nabob, peered over the balcony eager to see us.

Nabob was friendly from the start.

July 22, 2018 – Day trip to Lyon, France

We drove to Lyon, France for an afternoon.

Here is the statue of king Louis XIV in Place Bellecour square.

Inside Cathédrale St-Jean is an astronomical clock.

The cathedral also has many elaborate stained glass windows.

On top of the hill is Basilique Nortre Dame de Fourvière.

A funicular can take you up the hill, but we choose to walk.

This is part of the celling inside.

From the terrace there is a view of the city.

After walking down the hill we went across a pedestrian bridge. This image is looking back at Basilique Nortre Dame de Fourvière and Tour Métallique. The tower to the right is used as a TV transmitter.

July 23, 2018 – Wine Tasting in Côte-Rôtie

On July 23, 2018, we drove to the Côte-Rôtie appellation and went to Corps de Loup winery.

Here is one of the owners telling us about the grapes.

The below picture explained what flavors you may taste in white and red wine.

After the wine tasting and buying a bottle of wine, we purchased pizza for lunch from the stand below.

July 26, 2018 – Wine Tasting in Condrieu

On July 26, 2018 we drove to the Condrieu appellation. Our first appointment was at the Domaine Du Chene winery.

One of the family members poured the wine for our tasting.

Here is a view of the Rhône River.

On the way driving to the next winery we stopped at a lookout.

We went to the Christophe Pichon Estate, another winery that is owned and run by a family. Our tasting was done with one of the sons.

Housesitting

During the week we stayed at an apartment, looked after Nabob, watered the plants and took in the mail.

Nabob slept for most of the day, every day.

He was a fun cat and enjoyed to play fetch with a straw!

The housesitting was another enjoyable experience. You can read about our first house sit experience caring for Daphne in Sweden.
