Hike up Planpraz in Chamonix

We wanted to do a hike on the mountains opposite Mont Blanc. It was a great day with blue skies and many people were paragliding.
There is a cable car up to Planpraz, but it closes from September 16th – December 9th. It is possible to take the Flégère cable car and walk toward Planpraz with Mont Blanc in view, and then turn around and walk back to the Flégère cable car.
Since the Flégère cable car was a 45 minute walk from our Airbnb, we decided to hike up to Planpraz and then back down. According to Google Maps it looked to be about a 2 and a half hour hike up.
All along the way we had nice views.
Once we got to the trail, the hike started out on wooded paths.
The trail changed to being in fields.
There were many switchbacks just before we reached Planpraz.
The elevation at the top is 2,000 meters – around 6,562 feet. The views were amazing.
We went down a different path than we took up. On the way, we saw the launch area for the paragliders. “Accroche-toi” translates to “hang on!”.
It was a good hike and a gorgeous day. We were able to run a little bit on the way down so the total hike was just over 4 hours.
