New Orleans
Date: November 7, 2018 – November 8, 2018
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
After Walt Disney World, my father dropped Brian and me off at the airport and we flew to New Orleans, Louisiana. We first went to Jackson Square.
We stopped by Cafe Du Monde.
At Cafe Du Monde we ordered beignets and Brian got a coffee. In New Orleans, even the standard black coffee comes with chicory – made from the roots of the chicory plant and ground into a powder to make coffee from, claiming to contain less caffeine and make the coffee a little less bitter than it otherwise would be.
A small band on the sidewalk played music while we ate.
We visited The Presbytère, which is the Louisiana State Museum. The Presbytère has an exhibit about hurricanes and the impact that hurricanes Katrina and Rita had on the area. There is also a Mardi Gras exhibit. We really enjoyed the museum!
Woldenberg Park by the Mississippi River.
Brian went to Second Line Brewing to get some beer (and sample some, too!) to bring to Tulsa for our next stop. It was one of the few craft breweries that was a short bus ride away.
He has a flight to try out some of the beers they brewed, but was slightly disappointed that he couldn’t any of those in bottles. He brought a six-pack of the bottles he could get to take on to our next stop.
The food in New Orleans was really good!
Neither one of us had been to New Orleans before and we enjoyed it very much. There are also many more art galleries in the French Quarter than we expected.
