From New Orleans we flew to Tulsa, Oklahoma to visit Ashley and Dan. We stayed with them and their cats and dog.

We went to the Chapman Green Park to see the stick work created by Patrick Dougherty.

From the area the stick work is in, there was a nice view of one of the many churches that are in the city.

We then visited the Philbrook Museum of Art. Each month on the second Saturday admission is free. We happened to be in town for the second Saturday and visited on that day.

The Philbrook partnered with artist Karl Unnasch to create Slumgullion, a cabin that glows. The colors between the wood are from t-shirts dipped in resin.

The windows are made in a stained glass style using old glass pieces. You can go inside the cabin and see all of the glass lamps hanging from the ceiling and there is even a fireplace.

Tulsa has an amazing riverfront park called Gathering Place. The George Kaiser Family Foundation had a dream to transform around 100 acres of waterfront into an environment that everyone could use. The park became a reality and opened on September 8, 2018. The Gathering Place is the largest private gift to a community park in the U.S. at $465 million.

The park is huge and there are many areas for kids to play.

Yes – we also went down a couple of the slides.

In addition to the play areas, there is also a boathouse and a lodge with lounges and a restaurant.

The park is very impressive and the play areas look like a lot of fun – not only for kids, but for adults, too!

Hanson (who we saw perform when we were in Disney) is from Tulsa. This is their recording studio.

Tulsa usually gets snow a few days a year. On our last day in Tulsa it snowed! This could possibly be the last snow we see until winter of 2019…

There is a lot more to do in Tulsa than we expected. Tulsa has everything any other city does, including a zoo. However, different from many other cities, there is very little traffic.

A huge thanks goes out to Ashley and Dan for letting us crash with them for the weekend and showing us everything that Tulsa has to offer!
