Picton, New Zealand

The day after visiting Napier we went to Picton, on the south island.

This port also had lots of trees.

We got off the ship and took a few-minute walk into town. We went downtown to the Tirohanga Track trail.

The path up to the hilltop view was easy.

There was a small lookout part-way up.

This is the view from the top.

We continued to make a loop and there was a little stream to cross before getting to the roads that brought us back downtown.

We arrived back in town and heard a band playing.

Ferries between the North and South islands go between Picton and Wellington. One of the ferry company’s ships can be seen in the picture below. The ferries take between 3 to 3.5 hours to cross the Cook Strait.

Picton is a nice, small town and there are many hikes along Victoria Domain.

When the ship left the port we went up top to watch.
